synopsis
Krump is one of the hardest disciplines the dance world has to offer – a kind of Molotov cocktail of contemporary dance. NADINE GERSPACHER successfully teamed up with ARIAS FERNANDEZ for her new piece “RE.”, bringing a specialist on board who creates the greatest possible contrast to the nuanced and complex dance language of the Freiburg native dancer and choreographer, using this raw and explosive street dance style, together, with their duet, the two explore the diverse polarities of a society deeply divided by the Corona crisis and the individuals living in it.
RE. now presses the RE-Set button, which brings the turmoil of the pandemic to a standstill and, through a kind of reconfiguration, offers the possibility of a new beginning. With impressive, sometimes subtle, sometimes extreme imagery, RE. leads the audience through cycles of oppressive and liberating moments, from apparently hopeless situations to unexpected solutions.
biography
Cia Nadine Gerspacher is a international project serving as a creative platform for the company ́s own creations, as well as for collaborations with other artists. The company combines dance & theatre in a poetic way. Her central field of work is a dance theatre fired by everyday life. She creates small worlds inhabited by eccentric characters where the absurd, poetry and unfiltered physicality come together in a narrative way. Humor, transformations, grotesque moments and vulnerability play central roles in her plays. Basic questions of human existence: who are we, what are we looking for? and what is love? are constantly being re-examined in different ways. Her pieces are multidisciplinary, characterized by powerful dance and acrobatic elements. She is also a co-director of the professional programs FREE BODIES & FREE ROOTS, both resident projects at FREE- ZONE · Home for Creation, Movement and Performance that she also co-directs alongside Nico Ricchini.
